Safeguarding

Safety is a condition of access. We take active steps to keep the people we work alongside safe, and to make sure everyone contributing does so within their scope, training and supervision.

In an emergency, call 000. Sparkly Aliens Inc. is not an emergency or crisis service.

How we keep people safe

  • screening appropriate to each role, including disability-worker screening for risk-assessed roles and Working with Children Checks where children may be involved
  • identity, qualification, registration and insurance verification appropriate to the role
  • core orientation in safeguarding, boundaries, consent, duty of care and dignity of risk before direct contact
  • supervision appropriate to profession, experience, risk and participant contact
  • clear scope, delegation and escalation for every role
  • incident recognition and reporting, and cooperation with complaints

Child-safe practice

Where our work involves children and young people, we apply child-safe principles, require child-related screening and induction, and understand mandatory-reporting responsibilities.

Rights and respect

Our practice is neuroaffirming, trauma-informed, identity-safe and culturally responsive. We support informed and ongoing consent, assent and dissent, supported decision-making, and the right to change your mind. We do not use conversion or suppression practices of any kind.
